The Donald M. Sheridan Fine Art Studio is a 2500 square foot space in a large industrial
studio building in Jersey City, NJ, minutes from Manhattan. The studio is equipped with
two silk screen presses, able to produce prints as large as 60" x 96" and a 36" x 60'
Charles Brand etching press for etching and woodblock prints, as well as a dark room for
producing screens.
Mr. Sheridan collaborates with each artist to define a preliminary plan. Next, proofing
begins in the studio, artist and printmaker working together to produce a series of trial
proofs. From this group of initial proofs an image is chosen. Finally, the printmaker
produces the edition of prints.
Artists also produce monoprints, single images using the silkscreen method to make unique
paintings on canvas, paper, or any substrate they desire, including plywood, aviation
aluminium, and polished stainless steel.
This close, collaborative process often brings new inspiration to the artist, and new
techniques to the studio, as both stretch to create new images. The printmaker enables
each artist to realize his vision.
